OUR STORY
Our story begins with a group of men at church, just trying to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We were informed of an elderly church member who, for safety concerns, needed handrails installed on her home. We assembled a small group from the church, and without any specific carpentry experience, we did what we could to MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Our Mission
That simple project provided freedom of independent movement for our church member and ignited a fire in us to help others. As the projects came, so did the interest in others to volunteer and make a difference in the community. Before long, we realized we had skills from across the service industry, right there in our group of volunteers. This revelation, combined with the hearts to serve from our volunteers, led us to formalize our group and provide real value in service projects across the community. We realized we make it happen because we have people within our circle of influence with the talents, skills, and abilities to make a myriad of projects happen. It’s simply what they do in their normal everyday lives.
Unfortunately, in the community of Christian Believers, many think that because they don’t preach, teach, or baptize, they have nothing to offer. Make It Happen Missions gives volunteers an opportunity to serve in a capacity they are comfortable in. (1 Peter 4:10)
After members of our group participated in a mission trip to Missouri, we realized we could organize and conduct mission trips locally in our communities. We met potential volunteers who wanted to help others in some way but were unsure how to get started. That’s when we decided we would provide an opportunity for People to help People through mission work—right here at home.
Just think, it all started with handrails.
